What Diners Need To Know About How Consumers Find A Great Place to Eat

Did you Know?

81% of consumers have searched for a diner on a mobile device. If they can’t find simple information like your Location and Phone Number, they will move on to your competitor. Mobile searchers are also looking for your menu, so you really need to have this information readily available to them at all times.

According to a latest study, diners are the most searched industry by consumers through both mobile applications and browsers. Watch this video (turn up your speakers)!

The study, compiled through the feedback from 1,497 consumers who own a smartphone, found that 81% of consumers have searched for a restaurant on a mobile app and 92% through a web browser in the last six months, outperforming other highly searched industries, such as entertainment, retail outlets, hotels, and personal services.

Further, 75% say they often choose a diner  based on those search results.

Other key findings include:

80% of consumers think it’s important to see a menu before they eat at a diner
92% of consumers think it’s important to be able to find your contact information quickly and easily
70% of consumers think it is important to be able to read the menu of a diner on a mobile device
62% of consumers are less likely to choose a diner if they can’t read the menu on a mobile device

Bottom Line: If you own a diner, you’re probably already aware that the way customers are finding your business online has changed quite a bit in recent years. Today, 62% of small businesses think it is important to be seen on major mobile apps and 85% of small businesses believe that more people will find their business on mobile sites in the future. What is fascinating is that only a small percentage of businesses actually have a mobile website. Can you imagine how much business they are LOSING OUT on?

Diners can no longer ignore their online and mobile presence. If your location, phone number and online menu is updated and available on mobile, you have a tremendous advantage when it comes to attracting new customers.

For diners, that means making sure your menu is available in all the places people are searching online. It also means finding a way to keep those menus up-to-date.
